How Many Did You Say?

Here’s a sneak peak at My True Love’s Gifts.

How many gifts does My True Love give in The Twelve Days of Christmas”?  The answer is 364.  Wow!

“The Twelve Days of Christmas” is a cumulative song, which means that once a gift is given, it is given again on each subsequent day of the Christmas season.  So that means My True Love gives us twelve partridges in pear trees, eleven pairs of turtledoves, ten trios of French hens.  Well, you get the point.  When you add it all up, that is 364 gifts given in just twelve days.  It is an amazing display of generosity.  To find out why My True Love is so kind and loving, order your copy of My True Love’s Gifts on October 1st.

Change the Campus, Change the World

Christian Student Fellowship (CSF) is a non-denominational campus ministry serving the University of Kentucky.  It exists to live out and share the good news of Jesus Christ with people throughout the university community.  Just last month, CSF kicked-off the new school year with some of its biggest activities ever.  CSF is built around the belief that if we can change the campus, we can change the world.  For that reason, I’m proud that a portion of the net proceeds of My True Love’s Gifts will go to support the work of CSF.  To find out more, go to

Simple Church: An Old, New Idea

The New Testament is filled with examples of the early church in action.  The notion that a small community of people dedicated to following the teaching of Jesus Christ would somehow change the world was laughable on its face – at first.  But under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, the church grew steadily and positively impacted the brutal Roman culture of the day.  In less than 400 years, Christianity became the largest belief system in the Roman Empire.  What was a new idea back then is an old idea now.  Or is it?YouChoose_LogoOne of the ministries that will be blessed by the net proceeds of sales of My True Love’s Gifts is YouChoose.Community.  YouChoose is an internet community that engages people with short, culturally relevant biblical videos that can be enjoyed, shared and liked.  YouChoose challenges people to connect with Christ using a simple church format that is as trendy as Silicon Valley and as timeless as the first-century church.  YouChoose uses videos and social media to help people dive deep into what it means to follow Jesus as well as what it means to be a disciple who makes disciples.  By emphasizing how the church is a community and not a building, YouChoose is empowering a new generation to connect and reconnect with Christ.

Merry Christmas!

Hello! Welcome to My True Love’s Gifts: Rediscovering God in “The Twelve Days of Christmas”.  Isn’t it ironic that, at one of the times of the year when we most want to feel God’s presence in our lives, we are often too busy to do so.  But here’s the thing.  Christmas is about so much more than decorating, or gifts, or even the traditional nativity scene.  Christmas is all about God’s loving generosity.  This simple reality hit me in a place where I didn’t expect to find it – in the words of a 400 year old Christmas carol that we all know and love.  It seems there is a profound message in the gifts given in “The Twelve Days of Christmas.”  Over the next few months, we will see how this song blesses us personally and how My True Love’s Gifts will help bless others.  Let’s make this Christmas the best, most meaningful Christmas ever!
